Antique Jugendstil Opal 8k Gold Brooch (c. 1890s, Germany)

This lovely antique gold brooch was made in Germany, during the Jugendstil art movement (c. 1895 - 1910). The carvings of leaves are beautiful and vivid, featuring delicate craftsmanship. The three genuine opals are set in the center to highlight the glory and beauty of the brooch.

Jugendstil is an artistic style that arose in Germany during 1895 - 1910. The name is from the Munich magazine Die Jugend (“Youth”), featuring Art Nouveau designs. Two phases in Jugendstil: an early one, before 1900, is mainly floral in character, rooted in English Art Nouveau. And a later, more abstract phase, growing from the Viennese work of the Belgian-born architect and designer Henry van de Velde.
