Handcrafted Woodfired Porcelain Teacup (natural ash glaze) #3

This elegant teacup is beautifully handcrafted with special clay in Jingdezhen, China. It was burned in the traditional wood-fired kiln that has been used for decades. The satin mat feel of this glaze resembles the hues and textures obtained from wood firing.

Natural Ash Glaze — The color of the teacup comes solely from natural wood ash and its pattern is naturally formed by fire. The cup was left unglazed in the kiln (nothing was applied to the exterior), and then it was glazed by the natural melted ash that is created by burning wood at high temperatures in the kiln for several days prior to the burning of the teacup. Therefore, each piece of the same batch gets its own special look. They are like unique gifts from Mother Nature, especially the Spirit of Fire!
